My Bike tag:travellerspoint.com,2008-09-27:/blog/?domain=hughes&thisblog_entryid=3&entryid=130699 2008-09-27T16:16:04Z 2008-09-27T15:21:23Z Today I bought a typical dutch bike at the "Blaak Market". You can check it out below. I think its about 20 years old but it will get the job done. Hopefully the dull brown color will not attract the attention of the people who make a living stealing bikes (known here as "Junkies"). It's has one speed, the old school backpedal type brakes and a bell....sorry, I guess I should stop bragging. ... Today I bought a typical dutch bike at the "Blaak Market". Arrival in Rotterdam tag:travellerspoint.com,2008-09-23:/blog/?domain=hughes&thisblog_entryid=2&entryid=130243 2008-09-24T01:21:46Z 2008-09-24T01:18:09Z Hi everyone, I made it over here to Rotterdam without any problems. I was worried about having to pay $125 for the over sized schmuck suitcase I was checking but that turned out to be a non issue. I made it over here to Rotterdam without any problems. I was worried about having to pay $125 for the over sized schmuck suitcase I was checking but that turned out to be a non issue. Better yet, when I got to the gate they called for volunteers to be bumped and I ended up with a travel voucher. It was definitly worth it because my arrival in Amsterdam was only delayed by about an hour and a half.

Once I arrived in Amsterdam I took a train (11 Euros and 45 minutes) to Rotterdam and checked in at the school. While at the school I met some current students (graduating in 3 months) and some new arrivals like myself. Everyone was VERY outgoing and easy to talk to. After that I walked around to find the Erasmus International House (known as I-House) where I would be staying. Check out the views from my bedroom.

I live in a triple. One roommate is a Full-Time MBA student from Germany who is a year ahead of me. The other is a Spanish exchange student from ESADE in Barcelona.

I have a lot to do to get ready for the program and I'm pretty excited. It feels kind of like a kid with a big pile of presents he/she is about to start opening. I don't know exactly what to expect but its going to be good.
